From childhood we are taught that being jealous is a very bad thing but still we develop this emotion from a very young age. Be it the toys of other kids, their clothes or something else, we all feel jealous at some point. But is very true that jealousy is not good, it is counterproductive and can create bitterness in relationships. Moreover, it can blur your own ambitions and prevent you from achieving the personal goals by constantly looking at others’ performance. And if you feel that you are going through a same phase then here are some tips to help you out.
Admit
Sounds simple? It is not. Most of the people won’t admit they are jealous; it is just in their mind to deny jealousy as it is considered as a devil’s trait. People may be burning from inside but they won’t admit it to even themselves so if you are jealous then admit it and think about it. See how you can turn it into a positive thing and be more mature in life.
Learn To Appreciate
Learn to appreciate what others have achieved and give credit to them rather than saying that they were just lucky. Moreover, you cannot compete with everyone around you. Someone may be good at cooking and other at driving and so on; you cannot incorporate everything in yourself and turn a superman/superwoman. Therefore, pat people for their achievements and keep the good spirit alive.
Learn Something New
If people of your field are doing better than you, it is your chance to learn something new. Make a list of things that you feel jealous about and think about it. Ask yourself that what you want and then prepare yourself with a goal in mind. Obviously, you cannot be just sitting at one place asking why I don’t have these things. You need to work hard to achieve things so start and learn from your competitors. Give them a tough one in future.
Lift Confidence
Some people are just jealous as a result of low self esteem and confidence. Make sure you don’t fall in this category as low self esteem will not only create jealousy but other people will also stop believing in your capabilities. Lift your morale and see how you can achieve better things than others. Moreover, concentrate on positivity of your attitude evading guilt and other self destructive emotions.
Avoid Stress
Like you admitted that there is a feeling of jealousy, admit that you cannot control everything. No matter, how hard you try to achieve goals, some things will never work out. Learn to move on in life. There is always a different path and a different day. Don’t stress yourself by constant comparisons and hopes. Take a break from competitions and concentrate on other important things in life. After all, money and fame are not the only things to worry about and if there are people who compare you with others then problem is with them, not you.
