Stomach pain is the pain in the stomach and the adjoining areas of the abdomen. Every individual experiences this at some point in their lives. The magnitude of pain and uneasiness varies from mild to severe. There can be numerous causes for stomach pain. One of the most common causes includes bad eating habits.
Various other causes are indigestion, food poisoning, an infection in the stomach, constipation, bloating and ulcers, UTI’s, menstrual pain, kidney and gallstones. Home remedies have no side effects on the body and are very effective in curing stomach aches.
Mint Leaves For Stomach Aches
Juice of fresh mint leaves is effective in treating stomach aches. Mint juice should be mixed with lemon juice in equal quantity and small amount of fresh grounded ginger and a pinch of powdered black pepper should be added to it. This mixture should be taken in small sips to reduce stomach ache.
There are a number of seeds that are used in alleviating stomach ache. Fenugreek seeds should be grounded and added to a bowl of yogurt. These seeds help to reduce the pain and yogurt in it helps to reduce the acidity in the stomach. Yogurt also helps to create a good microbial environment in the stomach. Aniseeds also help to reduce stomach aches. These seeds should be soaked in water and left overnight.
The next morning the mixture should be strained and taken to relieve cramps in the stomach. Drinking water in which ajwain seeds have been boiled also helps to provide relief from stomach pain. Ajwain seeds can also be added to a glass of warm water containing lemon juice and a pinch of rock salt. Coriander seeds also reduce stomach ache when a spoon of coriander seeds is taken with a glass of warm water.
Ginger And Garlic
Both ginger and garlic have medicinal properties and helps in treating problems related to stomach and digestive system. Ginger helps to flush out the toxins which may be causing pain and garlic aids in reducing the pain. A mixture should be prepared by adding a few cloves of garlic to a cup of ginger juice. This mixture should be eaten few times in a day to alleviate stomach pain. Once the pain goes away, avoid eating it.
A mixture for alleviating stomach ache can be prepared at home by grinding and mixing equal amount of dry mint leaves, roasted cumin seeds, asafoetida, coriander seeds, dry ginger and cloves of garlic, black pepper and rock salt. A spoon of this mixture in warm water should be eaten few times in a day preferably after meals.
The spice cinnamon is very useful in treating stomach aches and also helps in preventing its reoccurrence. A stick of cinnamon can be added to tea of your choice. Since cinnamon tastes bitter, sugar or honey should be added. Cinnamon can also be consumed with toasted bread. Cinnamon capsules are available in the market too.
