Your eyes are your precious treasure as they help you to enjoy the beauty of this world. Thus, it is extremely essential that you should take very good care of your eyes health. Apart from washing your eyes daily and wearing costly sunglasses and contact lens to protect them from the harmful UV rays of the sun, you should also pay attention to your daily diet in order keep your eyes healthy. Diet is an inevitable part of your eye care routine.
Antioxidants: Antioxidants are extremely important for the betterment of your eye sight. They help in preventing several age related eye diseases like age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataract, etc. The important contents of anti oxidants that help in encourages the improvement of eye sight are Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Fruits and vegetables are highly rich in different types of anti oxidants.
• Vitamin A: Foods rich in Vitamin A are spinach, eggs, liver, milk, carrot etc. These are important sources of vitamin A that can help you to avert several eye related diseases like cataract, night blindness, etc. Vitamin A is also required to facilitate the functioning of retina.
• Vitamin E: One of the vital functions of vitamin E is to protect your eye’s health. They help to discourage the growth of cataract and thus enhance the life of your eye sight. Vitamin E helps you to get a clean and clear vision. It is commonly found in leafy green vegetables, nuts, wheat, sunflower oil, almonds, broccoli, etc.
• Vitamin C: The major sources of this form of vitamin are citrus fruits like lemons, oranges, papayas, lime, strawberries, guavas, etc. Vitamin C also has similar functions like the other two forms of vitamins i.e. it helps to diminish the threat of different forms of age related eye diseases.
Fatty Acids: Apart from antioxidants another important factor that influences your eye health is fatty acids. There are basically two types of fatty acids called omega-3 fatty acid and omega-6 fatty acid.
Omega 3 fatty acid is very useful for the betterment of your eye sight. The body needs sufficient supply of fatty acids through diet as the body is not able to form such type of fatty acids, in order to keep your eyes healthy.
Fishes are the richest source of such fatty acids. They help to prevent age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and cataract. They also help in preventing impaired vision and also improve functioning of the retina.
